The one world foundation was founded in 1995 with the aim of promoting targeted and well-organised education projects in Sri Lanka. A free school education has been made possible for children and young people through the creation of free education units (preschool, English classes). The development and continuity of a high-quality school programme (well-trained teachers, individual curricula) is intended to increase the educational level in country areas as a supplement to the state school system.
The Hunger Project is a global, non-profit, strategic organisation committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. We work in 13 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to develop effective bottom-up strategies to end hunger and world poverty.
We empower local communities to reforest their environment. We train them in permaculture techniques. We educate them on the value of food forests:increased income, reduced water shortage and soil erosion. Few people know that forests can halt climate changeas they create clouds that cool the earth. Our target is to halt climate change by achieving a 2% increase in cloud cover through the sustainable reforestation of 20 m km2 of the Earth. Our projects address all of the UN Millenium Development Goals, particularly#1, 3, 7, 8.
